The purpose of the report is to
inform individuals involved with AQUATRAIN of current and upcoming activities.

NOTES

The Bureau of Reclamation's Saline Water Transport and Use Office has a new
telephone number. The new number is 303-236-7006 (or FTS 776-7006).

The AQUATRAIN Project has recently been revised as a result of indepth engineer-
ing and financial studies, and market analysis. Attachments to this report
describe the modified project in more detail. For questions and comments,
please contact Mr. Walter Fite, Acting Project Manager, on the number shown
above.

The format of the morithly report has been revised to more clearly reflect
current act i vi ties.

SALINITY CONTROL

September and Octobe r Act i vi ties

Representatives of Aquatrain, Inc. and the Bureau of Reclamation met to assess
the beneficial use of saline water in Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada; and Utah. A
draft working agreement between Reclamation and Aquatrain, Inc. has been pre-
pared which defines activities and resources and funds to be committed by each
to determining which beneficial use projects to carry into feasibility-level
studies.

A meeting was held with the Colorado State Office of the BLM (Bureau of Land
Management) to explore the possible inclusion of their land in the Burns
Basin area with private lease holdings held by Western Water Reserves. This
incorporation would make up sufficient contiguous acreage to allow the ground
water reserves to be developed under Colorado Senate Bill 213 for replacement of
Glenwood-Dotsero Springs water. BLM will explore the options and advise
Reclamation as to their stance on the concept.
