laterals are served from the 4-mile Mesa County Ditch which is diverted

from the Grand Valley Canal, 4 miles east of Grand Junction.

Grand Valley Highline laterals.--The 80 Grand Valley Highline

laterals are diverted from the 23.S-mile Grand Valley Highline Canal

which extends from Grand Junction to a point 2 miles northwest of Fruita.

The laterals have a total length of 46 miles and initial capacities

ranging from 1 to 27 cfs.

Kiefer Extension laterals.--This lS-mile canal section, which is

actually an extension of the Grand Valley Highline Canal, serves the 37

Kiefer Extension laterals.

These laterals have a total length of 2S

miles and initial capacities ranging from 1 to 28 cfs.

Grand Valley Mainline laterals.--Sixty laterals are diverted from

the l4-mile Grand Valley Mainline Canal which extends from Grand Junction

to Fruita, parallel to and below the Grand Valley Highline. The laterals

have a total length of 72 miles and initial capacities ranging from 1 to

29 cfs.

Independent Ranchmen's laterals.--The l2-mile Independent Ranchmen's

Ditch, which extends from Grand Junction to Fruita parallel to and below

the Grand Valley Mainline Canal, serves 3S laterals. These laterals have

a total length of 23 miles and initial capacities ranging from 1 to 13

cfs.

Orchard Mesa Laterals

The Orchard Mesa laterals serve lands south of the Colorado River

between Palisade and Grand Junction. They are privately developed

laterals serving lands in the Orchard Mesa Irrigation District. The

lower laterals under Orchard Mesa Canal No. 1 and the upper laterals
