<br />t:'~ <br />0') <br />N <br />CJ <br /> <br />CHAPTER V <br /> <br />STAGE TWO PLAN OF DEVELOPMENT <br /> <br />,.~ " <br />-' <br /> <br />laterals are served from the 4-mile Mesa County Ditch which is diverted <br /> <br />from the Grand Valley Canal, 4 miles east of Grand Junction. <br /> <br />Grand Valley Highline laterals.--The 80 Grand Valley Highline <br /> <br />laterals are diverted from the 23.S-mile Grand Valley Highline Canal <br /> <br />which extends from Grand Junction to a point 2 miles northwest of Fruita. <br /> <br />The laterals have a total length of 46 miles and initial capacities <br /> <br />ranging from 1 to 27 cfs. <br /> <br />Kiefer Extension laterals.--This lS-mile canal section, which is <br /> <br />actually an extension of the Grand Valley Highline Canal, serves the 37 <br /> <br />Kiefer Extension laterals. <br /> <br />These laterals have a total length of 2S <br /> <br />miles and initial capacities ranging from 1 to 28 cfs. <br /> <br />Grand Valley Mainline laterals.--Sixty laterals are diverted from <br /> <br />the l4-mile Grand Valley Mainline Canal which extends from Grand Junction <br /> <br />to Fruita, parallel to and below the Grand Valley Highline. The laterals <br /> <br />have a total length of 72 miles and initial capacities ranging from 1 to <br /> <br />29 cfs. <br /> <br />Independent Ranchmen's laterals.--The l2-mile Independent Ranchmen's <br /> <br />Ditch, which extends from Grand Junction to Fruita parallel to and below <br /> <br />the Grand Valley Mainline Canal, serves 3S laterals. These laterals have <br /> <br />a total length of 23 miles and initial capacities ranging from 1 to 13 <br /> <br />cfs. <br /> <br />Orchard Mesa Laterals <br /> <br />The Orchard Mesa laterals serve lands south of the Colorado River <br /> <br />between Palisade and Grand Junction. They are privately developed <br /> <br />laterals serving lands in the Orchard Mesa Irrigation District. The <br /> <br />lower laterals under Orchard Mesa Canal No. 1 and the upper laterals <br /> <br />40 <br />
