These percentages are expected to change in the
future.

The 1975 standards established nurrleric criteria at the three

stations, 'Hoover, Parker, and Imperial Dams. They are 723, 747,
and 879, respectively. As part of this review, the Forum considered
the changes that have occurred since 1977 the base year of the 1978
study, through 1979.

Qw of the major items to be considered in predicting future
salinity levels is the projection of the level of future water use
that will occur in the Basin. Each of the states submitted their

best estimate to the Forum work group as to what they anticipated

future development would be within their respective states. Their

projections included low, moderate, and high development levels.

The terminology "low, moderate, and high" is not to be taken as

implying that the projection designated as moderate is the most pro-
bable one. Rather the three terms merely reflect the relative role
of increased use for one projection as compared to the others. A
comparison of the projections with the historical trend is shown.
The 1978 low projection was coincidental with the recent historical
trend. The low projections for the 1981 review is greater than that

used in 1978.

However, the moderate and high rates are lower than

-_-c'-__--~.~'v_" ___~ ,_

1978.

A large part of the salinity control program is included

in the Bureau of Reclamation program for water quality improvement

and the Department of Agriculture's on-farm salinity control acti-

vities.
