<br />,.1 <br /> <br />SYSTEM-WIDE ENVIRONMENTAL <br />IMPACT STATEMENT <br /> <br />The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been designated as the lead feder- <br />al agency for the System-wide Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). <br />The EIS is a detailed study of Denver area population growth, present <br />and future wa ter su pply, envi ronmenta 1 ques ti ons surround i ng wa ter de- <br />velopment, and mitigation measures, The 20~month study is expected <br />to be completed by August 1984. The EIS is funded jointly by metro- <br />politan area Providers and the Denver Water Board, and it is expected <br />to cost an estimated $6.7 million. <br /> <br />The CAC was instrumental in holding scoping meetings for the EIS in <br />the metro area and in mountain areas affected by future water develop- <br />ment. In addition, the CAC has a continuing role in the EIS process <br />with responsibility for facilitating and monitoring the many public <br />meetings scheduled as part of that process, <br /> <br />The Corps of Engineerings publishes a periodic newsletter updating the <br />progress of the EIS. 8y checking the appropriate blocks in this attach- <br />ment, you will receive the EIS newsletter as well as the notices of pub- <br />lic meetings to be held as part of the EIS. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />- 2 - <br />
