The u.S. Bureau of Reclamation has completed 21 of the allowed 35 wells on the United States side within five miles of the Arizona- Sonora boundary near San Luis for protective and regulatory pumping and 14 of the 21 wells were pumped in 1991. The remaining 14 allowed wells have been deferred until water supply needs make construction necessary.
