<br />.. <br /> <br />001055 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Discussion Draft <br /> <br />1721.4 <br /> <br />Procedure <br /> <br />/ <br /> <br />1721.4-1 Classitications for Disposal <br /> <br />(a) Disposal classifications may be made: <br /> <br />\ <br />I <br /> <br />(1) In response to petitions filed pursuant to <br />the procedu~e6 see foreh in Subpart 2411, or <br /> <br />(2) On the motion of the government, without <br />receipt of petitions. <br /> <br />(b) Ordinarily, lands will not be classified for dispossl <br />unless there is a reasonable prospect for actual transfer <br />out of federal ownership within a reasonable time. <br /> <br />1721.4-2 elassifications for Retention and Management <br /> <br />Formal action to clsssify lands for retention and management <br />will be governed by the following procedures. As specified <br />under 1721.1 above, all lands administered by the Secretary <br />through the Bureau of Land Management will continue to be <br />managed under the principles of multiple use and sustained <br />yield, whether or not they hsve been formally classified <br />for retention and management in accordance with these <br />procedures. <br /> <br />(a) Proposed classifications will be clearly set forth on <br />a map by the authorized officer, and on the Land <br />Office records, and a public notice will be issued <br />in the Federal Register and in a local newspaper <br />indicating where and when the map snd Land Office <br />records may be examined. The notice will specify <br />the general location of the lands, the acreage <br />involved, the types of uses to be authorized, and <br />the extent to which the land is to be segregated from <br />settlement, location, sale, selection, entry, lease, <br />or other formal disposal under the public land laws, <br />',including the mining and mineral lessing laws. Publi- <br />cation of this notice will segregate the lands to the <br />extent indicated in the notice. <br /> <br />, <br />(b) Comments will be received for at least 60 days af~er:-- <br />the public notice has been issued. <br /> <br />13 <br /> <br />\ <br />
