.

.

.

ODn3

Quest ion 5:

DOES STORAGE OF 102,000 ACRE FEET AT NARROWS INSURE BETTER RECHARGE OF THE
AQUIFER THAN A NO-DAM ALTERNATIVE? IN OTHER WORDS, WITHOUT NARROWS, WOULD
THE SAME AMOUNT OF WATER RECHARGE THE AQUIFER? DOES THE SAME AMOUNT OF SUR-
FACE WATER LEAVE THE STATE WITH OR WITHOUT THE DAM?

Answer 5:

Narrows will provide for better and more efficient recharge of the aquifer than
a no-dam alternative.

Without Narrows, the aquifer recharge would be less.

There will be less surface water leaving the State of Colorado with Narrows
than without the dam.

The 102,000 acre-feet are not currently used for recharge of the aquifer. It
is, in effect, unused water.
