San Juan-Chama
Water Accounting
Albuquerque Area Office
August 1998

The natural inflow into Heron Reservoir during the month of
August was computed to be 153 acre-feet (AF) as shown in Table 3.
There were 1190 AF net San Juan-Chama (SJ-C) losses, as shown in
Table 2. There was 3312 AF diverted through Azotea Tunnel this
month.

There was a total of 153 AF of Natural (RG) released from Heron.
There was a total of 4668 AF of ,SJ-C water released from
Heron, all of which were delivered to the City of Albuquerque Pool
in Abiquiu. There was a total of 2568 AF of SJ-C releases from
EI Vado, all of which represented payback by the MRGCD to the
City of Albuquerque Pool in Abiquiu.

There was 5758 AF of SJ-C water released from Abiquiu, all of
which were released from the City of Albuquerque pool in support
of Middle Rio Grande Valley water management.

There was 2.11 inches of precipitation at Heron Reservoir, which
is 78% of the August (running) average of 2.70 inches. The
monthly computations for Heron Reservoir are summarized in Tables
1-3.

Total inflow into Nambe Falls Reservoir was computed to be 1069
AF. There were 2.6 AF of losses on the reservoir. Table 4
summarizes San Juan-Chama water at Otowi.

Estimated sediment deposition in the San Juan-Chama pools at
Abiquiuu and Jemez Canyon Reservoirs, and Cochiti Lake are
presented in Tables 5A-5C. Storage and evaporation of Rio Grande
water in EI Vado and Abiquiuu Reservoirs are shown in Table 6.

All data are provisional and subject to revision as final data
are collected and analyzed.
