<br />001066 <br /> <br />l <br /> <br />(c) The bene~its of the Act entitled "An Act to provide compensation <br />for employees of the United States suffering injuries while in the performance <br />of their duties, and for other purposes", approved September 7, 1916, as <br />amended, shall exterld to persons given employment under the provisions of t!ds <br />Act; and the remedies afforded by such Act of September 7, 1916, as ame%lded, <br />shall be exclusive and in lieu of any other remedy. <br /> <br />(d) All contracts to w!dch the Corporation is a party and which require <br />the employment of laborers and mechanios in the construction, alteration, <br />maintenance, or 'repair of buildings, d~, looks, or other structures or <br />facilities shall contain a provision that not lees than the prevailing rate of <br />wages for work of a similar nature in the vicinity shall be paid to suoh <br />laborers or mechanios. In the event any dtspute arises as to what are the <br />prevailing rates of wages, the question shall be referred to the Secretary of <br />Labor for determination, and his decision shall be final. In the determination <br />of suoh prevailing rate or rates due regard shall bs given to those rates <br />whioh have been secured through colleotive agreement by representatives of <br />employers and employees. Tfuere suoh work as is described in t!ds subseotion <br />is done directly by the Corporation, the prevailing rate of wages shall be <br />paid in the same manner as though such work had been let by contract. <br /> <br />SEC. 5. Subjeot to the provisions of this Aot the Corporation-- <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />(a) Shall have sucoession in its oorporate name. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />(b) May sue and be sued in its oorporate name and may settle and adjust <br />olaims held by it against other parties or persons and by other parties and <br />persons against it. <br /> <br />(c) May adopt and use a oorporate seal, whioh shall be judioially <br />notioed. <br /> <br />(d) May adopt, amend, and repeal bylaws. <br /> <br />{ <br /> <br />(e) Shall have power to acquire. by purohase. lease. oondemnation, or <br />donation suoh real and personal property and any interest therein, and may sell, <br />lease, or otherwise dispose of any real and personal property and any interest <br />therein, as in its judgment may be necessary or appropriate in carrying out <br />the purposes of the Corporation under this Act or any other law of the United <br />Statess Provided, however, That the Corporation shall dispose of no real <br />property on which is located a permanent dam, hydraulio power plant, fertilizer <br />plant, or munitions plant heretofore or hereafter oonstructed by or on behalf <br />of the United States or the Corporation: Provided further, That the provisions <br />of section 355, Revised Statutes (40 U. s. c. 255), as amended, shall be in- <br />applicable as respeots aoquisitions by the Corporation.
