Colorado Water Conservation Board <br /> <br />Re, Colorado-Kansas Arkansas River Compaot Camnission, and allied meetings <br /> <br />Release I Saturday, June 21, and thereafter. <br /> <br />Denver, Juno 2l--Studies and analyses pointing toward future final reoammen- <br /> <br />dations for the Colorado-Kansas Arkansas river oompaot will be resumed in Denver, <br /> <br />Thursday and Friday, June 26-27, it was announcod tcday by C. L. Patterson, <br /> <br />chief engineer for the Colorado Water Conservation Board, who is secretary for <br /> <br />tho two-state oompaot oommission. <br /> <br />The oommission in its two-day olosed meeting will review reoent find- <br /> <br />ings of its engineering oommittee, and its oommittee on legal affairs, inserting <br /> <br />the new information into the commission's minutes to be considered with the <br /> <br />mass of othor data whioh will finally be shaped into a Colorado-Kansas water <br /> <br />agreement. <br /> <br />Mr. Patterson said the conunission's moeting next week will be the <br /> <br />ninth in a series of conferences whioh began in January, 1946. FUrther meetings <br /> <br />will be held before a oompaot draft will be ready for submission to the state <br /> <br />legislatures of the two states. and after thst to oongress and to the president <br /> <br />of the United States for approval. <br /> <br />The engineering oommitteo, whioh will oonduot a meeting of its own <br /> <br /> <br />in Denver, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 23-24-25, will oompile statistios <br /> <br />and data oomparing water flow, diversions and uses of water in the Arkansas <br /> <br />river basin, prior to and following initial op;;ration of the partially-oompleted <br /> <br />John Martin dam, near Lamar, Colorado. The dam has been a oontrolling faotor <br /> <br />in water flow for the region since January, 1943. <br /> <br />The oompaot oammission is composed of Brig. Gen. Hans Kramer (U.S.A. <br /> <br />retired) of San Mateo, California, as ohsirman, representing the federal govern- <br /> <br />mont, and tho following state oanmissioners I <br />
