Two other units
are planned. Approximately 6,000 acre-feet of water have been obtained
from the Emery County Project and a total of 15,000 acre-feet acquired
from other ~xisting rights.

Deferred Indian Lands

Under the Deferral Agreements of September 20, 1965, the Ute Indians agreed
to defer development of 15,242 acres of land but not beyond January 1, 2005.
On August 13, 1975, the Ute Indian Tribe passed a resolution requesting that
development of Indian facilities proceed concurrently with development of
non-Indian facilities. The Secretary agreed on August 21, 1975.

Leland Bench was recognized as a means of developing 15,242 acres of land.
Investigations are proceeding under the Leland Bench Complex--Bonneville
Unit, CUP. Construction is expected to be intiated by 1979 and develop-
ment of lands in the 1980's.

Intermountain Powerplant

Investigations are proceeding to determine a suitable site for this coal-
fired steam electric plant and to acquire a water supply of 50,000 acre-
feet annually possibly by contract with the Department of the Interior.
Expected depletions would occur before 1990.

Resources, Inc.--Kaiparowits

Resources, Inc., discontinued planning for coal-fired steam electric generat-
ing plants at Kaiparowits in early 1976. The Company then filed an application
with the Utah State Engineer on July 15, 1975, to amend their water applica-
tion to 30,000 acre-feet and extend the time. Designated uses were domestic
mining, coal gasification, and possible slurry uses. The State Engineer will
likely hold a hearing on this application.

U-a/U-b Oil Shale Prototype Development

Latest estimates indicate a 24,000 acre-feet water depletion will be required
to support a 100,000 b/day operation. This use would include 18,000 acre-
feet for the production process and 6,000 acre-feet for municipal u~es asso-
ciated with this development. Based upon information from the Detailed Devel-
opment Plans of the tracts and the desired moratorium on lease payments, it
is doubtful that heavy use of water would occur before the mid-1980's.

Wyoming

Present

The present depletions are based upon the data from the Type I Study updated
to 1976 by the Wyoming State Water Plan anc Westwide Studies.
