nOlo~4

~

~

Central Utah Pro;ect, Utah

Bonneville Unit

Bonneville Unit--CUP has been under construction for 10 years. Works pres-
ently constructed include Starvation Dam, Soldier Creek Dam, Water Hollow,
Currant Creek, and Layout Tunnels. Currant Creek Dam is essentially complete
anc Vat and Stillwater Tunnels are presently under construction.

Principal depletions in 1977 included evaporation losses from Starration
(5,700 acre-feet), irrigation uses from Starvation Reservoir (26,500 acre-
feet depletion), evaporation from Soldier Creek (3,000 acre-feet) and net
accrual to Soldier Creek and Strawberry Reservoirs at 1,100 acre-feet.
Further storage acquisition will increase this total to about 75,000 acre-
feet by 1980 and full depletion of 166,000 by about 1984.

Upalco Unit--CUP

A definite plan report was completed in 1968 and revised in 1969 as
authorized by P.L. 84-485 (Colorado River Storage Project and Participat-
ing Projects). Construction is estimated to begin in FY 1979 with first
water service about 1983. Initial filling in Taskeech Reservoir would re-
quire about 83,000 acre-feet. Primary uses are planned as supplemental
use for irrigation. Annual depletions are 10,300 acre-feet.

Jensen Unit--CUP

The definite plan report was revised in 1976. The plan would provide irri-
gation water primarily for supplemental service and water for municipal and
industrial use. Total depletion is estimated at 15,000 acre-feet. The pres-
ent construction schedule O1ay 1977) projects irrigation water service to be
available by 1980 and M&I service by 1982. The M&I requirements would grad-
ually increase to the full use by 1990.

Uintah Unit--CUP

A report for certification of physical, economic, and financial feasibility
dated April 1975 was certified by the Acting Secretary of the Interior on
August 22, 1975, approved by OMB on March 25, 1976, and forwarded to Congress
on April 6, 1976. A definite plan report is scheduled for June 1978. Proj-
ect water supply uses are primarily for supplemental irrigation service to
Indian and non-Indian lands and full service to Indian lands and a minor
amount for M&I. Total depletions would be 30,500 acre-feet. Construction
is anticipated to provide storage by 1982.

F~ery County Powerplant

Utah Power & Light Company has planned two units to begin service in 1978
and 1980.

10
