This will supply water for full operation of the five units <br />located at Four Corners totaling 2,1~4 MW. <br /> <br />Farmington M&I <br /> <br />The, city of Farmington, New Mexico, is expected to develop additional <br />water for M&I use by 1990. <br /> <br />Navajo Indian Irrigation Project <br /> <br />Projected estimated depletions are 254,000 acre-feet. Studies completed <br />for the project for the all-sprinkler irrigation system by the Southwest <br />Region indicate agricultural consumptive use of 226,000 acre-feet. A <br />Department of Interior Solicitor's Opinion (May 17, 1974) indicates prob- <br />able depletion by the Navajo Indians totaling 254,000 acre-feet. The first <br />block of land (about 9,300 acres) was irrigated in 1976. The second block <br />is scheduled for 1978 with additional blocks following each year until <br />completion. <br /> <br />Navajo 11&1 Contracts <br /> <br />(a) San Juan Plant--New Mexico Public Service. Unit No. 2 (306 MW) <br />started operation in 1973 and about 5,000 acre-feet was used in 1975 and <br />about 4,000 acre-feet in 1976. Other scheduled units are No. 1 (314 MW-- <br />December 1976), No.3 (486 MW--May 1979), and No.4 (468 MW--May 1981). <br />It is estimated that 11,000 acre-feet will be used by 1980 and the full <br />contract amount thereafter. <br /> <br />(b) Utah International Inc.--Utah International will furnish water <br />to WESCO for coal gasification. Depletions are estimated to begin in the <br />mid-1980's. <br /> <br />(c) El Paso Natural Gas Company--Depletior..s under the pending M&I <br />contract with El Paso for coal gasification are not expected to begin <br />until after 1980. <br /> <br />(d) Other--Other depletions from Navajo M&I Contracts are not expected <br />to occur before about the mid-1980's. <br /> <br />Utah <br /> <br />Present <br /> <br />The present depletions are based upon data from Type I studies plus the <br />addition of Emery County project depletions of 14,000 acre-feet. The 1977 <br />depletions total 678,000 not including Bonneville Unit which are reported <br />separately. <br /> <br />9 <br />
