Hydropower generation is expected

to exceed 13 billion kwh during CY 1975, the highest since system

operations began over 20 years ago. Hydropower revenues from the main

stem system during FY 1975 were nearly 63 million, 18 percent greater

than the previous year. High releases from the system have contributed

to increased channel depths for navigation and have greatly decreased

barge groundings or delays. The above normal water supply will also

allow a 10-day extension to the 1975 navigation season. Navigation

tonnages during 1975 are expected to be near the averages for the past

The high reservoir levels generally were conducive to the best fish

,,~~
tl~;:
:%jf@~._~
rf~~
r''''i.;:};'
/*~-'*!~
:>:~~::::~.
'--;-'.- .
~.- .~.~ .,;-.
;}~-;.~:-
;/:~~~~:!~

decade, but helow the tonnages of last year, reflecting largely the

nation's lowered economic activity and reduced grain shipments.

spawning and development conditions for many years in several of the

reservoirs.
