The obligation of nearly one-half million <br /> <br />dollars in CRS: funding for over 1,500 acres during the <br /> <br />initial sign-up period was significant. The support USDA <br /> <br />is giving this program was demonstrated by t~e presence and <br /> <br />participation ~f high level management atteni:ng the <br /> <br />initial signi~1 ceremony in Roosevelt, ~tah, on July 2, <br /> <br />1987. Participating from USDA in ~ashington. D.C. were: <br /> <br />~ilson Scaling, Chief SCS; Vern Seppi, Assoe,ate <br /> <br />Adffiinistrator ASCS; and Tom Halbach, Sationa~ Program <br /> <br />Leader for th~ Extension Service. <br /> <br />The Coune,l appreciates <br /> <br />CSDA's effort ~o implement an adequate monit:ring and <br /> <br />evaluation program in the Uinta Basin. The Council expects <br /> <br />this will dir~~tly result in an improved evaluation of the <br /> <br />salinity control measures. <br /> <br />Big Sand. ~nit. The Big Sandy Cnit is one of the most <br /> <br />cost effective salinity control measures identified by the <br /> <br />federal agencies. The Forum and the Council support the <br /> <br />final plan, fi~a1 EIS and the Record of Decision ccmpleted <br /> <br />in 1987.
