<br />~ <br />~ <br />en <br />en <br /> <br />The Council recognizes and appreciates the cooperative <br /> <br />studies between Reclamation and the eSGS in the Las Vegas <br /> <br />Wash and the Upper Colorado River Basin. The studies have <br /> <br />done much to improve knowledge of data base development for <br /> <br />local ground water flow systems impacted by potential <br /> <br />salinity control practices. The Council encourages the eSGS <br /> <br />and Reclamation to continue to work together as well as <br /> <br />with the other federal agencies and states to maintain an <br /> <br />adequate hydrologic information network and to conduct <br /> <br />those studies that are essential to determining the <br /> <br />effectiveness of the salinity control program. <br /> <br />Department of A~riculture (eSDA) <br /> <br />The Council commends the efforts of the Basin states <br /> <br />and the Forum staff in obtaining line item funding for the <br /> <br />Salinity Control Program in F.Y. 1987. The Council urges <br /> <br />VSDA :0 diligently pursue <br /> <br />adequate line item funding for <br /> <br />personnel, equipment, and cost sharing to assure that <br /> <br />program implementation schedules are met. USDA should <br /> <br />provide a more adequate, balanced staff for onfarm salinity <br /> <br />control activities to better service requests and reduce <br /> <br />the backlog of applications for planning assistance on the <br /> <br />Colorado River Salinity Control (CRSe) contracts. <br /> <br />Grand Valley Unit. <br /> <br />The Council supports the USDA's <br /> <br />initiation of CRSC applications and contract signings in <br /> <br />the Grand Valley area. <br /> <br />The on farm monitoring and <br /> <br />-15- <br />
