Its crest at elevation 7960 is tonned
by a concrete parapet an1 curb and is traversed by relocated State
Highway No.9. Two 25-foot by 20-foot ra~ial gMtes control the
concrete-lined, aDen-channel type spillway which has a length of
1,069 feet and a discharge canacity of 25,000 cfs. The outlet
works include a concrete-lined tunnel extending from an inlet trash-
rack structure in the reservoir to the powerhouse below the dam.
Upstream from a centrally located gate-chamber, the tunnel is 18
feet in diameter and 651 feet longo The downstrea,l1 portion is a
23.25 by 15075-foot horseshoe section, 715 feet long. Two 102-
inch plate-steel conduits, installed in the horseshoe section,
serve as outlets for the res~rvoir and as penstocks for the power
plant. Two 44-inch tube valves provide for the release of 1,530
cfs of water past the power plant~ Emergency control of the outlet
works is provided by two l02-incb ring-seal gates housed in the
gate-chamber which is located at the bottom of a vertical shaft
leading from the crest of the dam~

Irrigation facilities for lands along the Blue ~iver below
G~een Mountain Dam were imnroved to insure an adecuate supply of
water at all stages of river flcwo Seven automatic headgates were
installed, c~~al inlets to the headgate structu"es were recon-
structed, a~d suoply CAnals lea1ing from the headworks TIere improved.
~even miles below Green VountaLI na~, a cabl~ suspension bridge
wlth a l52-foot S?2n was constructed to carry three 20-inch steel
pines for the i~ri~ation of la~ds on the west side of the Blue ~iver.

8
