J\l...'>~; .~.....~'- <br /> <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />(Jl <br />-.J <br /> <br />Green Mountain Dam and Reservoir. <br /> <br />Green }.fountain Power Plan~ (1.938-1943), located at the base <br />of Green Mountain Dam, utilizes the regulat~d streamflow and the <br />watars released from Green Mountain Reservoir to generate electric <br />energy. Construction of this power plant was expedited under war- <br />time provisions to increase power production for war industries <br />and military establistilncnts in the area. Full operation of the <br />plant began on ~~ 18, 1943, and pover vas transmitt&d over a <br />27.1-mile Government-constructed transmission line to Dillon. The <br />annual output of this plant averages 68,000,000 kilovatt-hours, <br />the greater percentage of vhich has been marketed to the Public <br />Service Company of Colorado and to communities and municipaliti~s <br />adjacent to the Green Mountain-Grand Lake Transmission Line. <br />Pover vas furnished for construction operations on the project <br />and. vl11 be furnished for operation of the Granby Pumping Plant. <br /> <br />The pover plant contains tvo vertical, J-phase, 60-cycle, <br />generating units, vith an installed capacity of 21,600 kilovatts <br />povered by tvo 14,500-horsepover hydraulic turbines operating <br />under a variable hydraulic head ranging !'ram 108 to 258 feet. The <br />turbines are supplied by ~eans of the tvo l02-inch plate-steel <br />penstock-outlet pipes that lead !'rare the gate-chamber in the out- <br />let tunnel. The pover plant svitchyard 1s equipped vith tr~ee <br />4,000 kva, single phase, 6.9/69 kv transformers on each generator; <br />tr..ree 6,000 ITa, sino1e ph1:istl, 69/U6 kv for the transmission line <br />
