MITIGATING MEASURES IN THE PROPOSED ACTION

Many of the impacts mentioned in the previous section will be
mitigated because the project will be required to be in compliance
with all State, Federal, and Local laws as they pertain to the con-
struction of dams, spillways, reservoirs, and highways, prevention
of air and water pollution, protection of wildlife and vegetation,
provision of sanitary facilities, protection of property, restora-
tion of disturbed lands, protection of the public during construc-
tion, and relocation of residents.

Four families will be displaced by the project. These people
will be given assistance in relocating to new homes in the area if
they have need of such help. As much advance notice as possible
will be given to the residents before they are required to move.

Dust preventative measures, including wetting and spraying of
disturbed areas, will be followed. Upon completion of the project,
disturbed areas will be restored to their original contours as
closely as possible and will then be reseeded to native plants and
grasses.

During construction, disturbed lands subject to erosion from
storm runoff will be protected to the greatest extent possible by
temporary contouring. In addition, sediment control dams and ponds
wi'l be constructed downstream from the dam.

Burning of brush, trees, and grass from clearing operations
will be done only when atmospheric conditions are optimal and when
people will be least affected. There will be a continual clean-up
program to keep the grounds clear of trash and litter, as well as
a continual landscape maintenance program.

IV-l
