<br />Soil Conservation Service <br /> <br />',:" <br /> <br />") <br /> <br />ARKANSAS RIVER BASIN ABOVE KEYSTONE DAM <br /> <br />.... <br />w <br />C1) <br />~ <br /> <br />RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (continued) <br /> <br />B, EAST CENTRAL COLORADO RC&D AREA, CO <br />STATUS: USDA assistance to sponsors authorized October 1976 for a five county <br />area. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />Size - 2,609,497 Acres <br />Location - Includes the following counties: Cheyenne, Elbert, El Paso, <br />Kit Carson, and Lincoln <br />Purpose: To expand the economic opportunities for the people of an area by <br />developing and carrying out a plan of action for the orderly conser- <br />vation, improvement, development and wise use of all their natural and <br />human resources. <br />. <br /> <br />SPONSORS: <br />Conservation districts, county governments, and 16 cities and towns. <br /> <br />COMPREHENSIVE RIVER BASIN SURVEYS AND INVESTIGATIONS <br /> <br />59, ARKANSAS RIVER BASIN COOPERATIVE STUDY, KS <br />STATUS: Arkansas River Basin in Kansas, Type 4 Study, was completed by the USDA <br />and the Kansas Water Resources Board. ~e survey was authorized and funded <br />in fiscal year 1966. The final report was completed in 1976. <br /> <br />DESCRIPTION: The report covers about 41,800 square miles and includes that <br />portion of Kansas drained by the Arkansas River and its tributaries. The <br />study provides data to the Kansas Water Resources Board for use in its Water <br />Resources Plan Study and for coordination of water and related 1and resource <br />programs. <br /> <br />COOPERATING AGENCIES: The USDA was represented by Soil Conservation Service, <br />Forest Service and Economic Research Service. The Kansas Water Resources <br />Board was the cooperating State agency. <br /> <br />21 <br />
