This continuous <br /> <br />rise can be attributed t.o the t.ransfer of most of the Flaming Gorge Power- <br /> <br />plant loads to the Glen Canyon Powerplant. Above average precipitation <br /> <br />during August and September also contributed appreciable amounts of <br /> <br />water to the lake. Emergency releases from Fontenelle caused F1aining <br /> <br />Gorge Reservoir to rise about 7 feet in 8 days beginning September 5, 1965. <br /> <br />The high runoff in the San Juan River drainage area raised Navajo <br /> <br />Reservoir to 6,012.42 feet on Auguat 3. The reservoir level is receding <br /> <br />alovly and _s at elevation 5,996 feet on October 17 (surface storage <br /> <br />715,700) and will continue to decline slowly until snowme lt runoff <br /> <br />'begins next spring. Until a decision is reached on repairing or altering <br /> <br />the main outlet works, water will be released only through the auxiliary <br />l10rks at a rate of about 1,900 c.f.s. This will result in an estimated <br />l/Bter level of about 5,965 feet m.s.l. in March 19/56 or about 10 feet <br /> <br />3 <br />
