.

.

.

001760

PACIFIC SOUTHWEST INTER-AGENCY COMMIT'l'EE
Quarterly Report for Colorado
68-4 Meeting

/

Construction

Bids will be taken December 5, 1968, for completion of
Morrow Point Powerplant near Gunnison and construction of the
switchyard to serve the Morrow Point facilities. This contract
will also include construction of the Morrow Point entrance and
visitor building; erection of about 2 miles of l3.8-kv., single-
pole transmission line from Curecanti Substation to Morrow Point
Switchyard; and installation of equipment at the Curecanti Sub-
station for energizing the Curecanti-Midway transmission line at
230 kilovolts.

Bids have been solicited for rehabilitating three reaches
of Colorado Highway No. 133 along Paonia Reservoir near Paonia.
The rehabilitation includes realining approximately one-half mile
of road and providing a wide ditch section; constructing a concrete
retaining wall between the highway and the spillway at the dam,
and res loping areas along the right side of the spillway; unwatering
the spillway stilling basin and general cleanup work. The Colorado
Department of Highways will place bituminous surfacing on the re-
habilitated segments of roadway at the conclusion of the Bureau's
work.

The contractor for Silver Jack Dam of the Bostwick Park
Project near Montrose has completed placing compacted backfill
around the outlet works except for the dome of the gate chamber.
Nearly 60 percent of the concrete has been placed for the spillway
inlet and 85 percent for the spillway conduit section. Concrete
placements were started for the spillway stilling basin during
October. The contractor resumed work on the dam embankment during
August and will continue this work as long as weather will permit.
He plans to mobilize a much larger earth moving fleet next spring
and to complete the dam embankment before the 1969 winter shutdown.

Feasibilitv Investiqations

Favorable review comments on the June 1967 proposed fea-
sibility report, Battlement Mesa Project near Collbran, have been
received from all state and federal cooperating agencies. Following
receipt of the Commissioner's comments, the report will be revised
and transmitted to Washington for further action.

,
~ ,I
