.

001758

.

.

,

Feasibilitv Investiqations

Review comments on the June 1967 proposed feasibility
report, Battlement Mesa Project near Collbran, have been received
from all state and federal cooperating agencies. The report on the
project received from the Federal Water Pollution Control Adminis-
tration has been submitted to the Commissioner, Bureau of Reclamation,
for its recommendation as to its use.

All feasibility designs and estimates for the major features
of the initial phase, or the Roan Crec]< Unit, of the Bluestone Project
near Grand Junction have now been completed. Designs and estimates
on the remaining project features are i.n the final stages of completion.
Plan formulation studies and reconnaissance cost estimates for Una
Reservoir (the second phase of tl1e project) are also completed, and
work has been initiated on the Plan Formulation Appendix to the report.
The Land Classification and Hydrology Appendices have been completed,
and the Agricultural Economic Appendix is nearing, completion. Finan-
cial and economic analysis studies and ~eport have been continued,
but cannot be completed until wor]< by the cooperating agencies is
complete and their reports available. Because of the delay in
receiving these cooperating agency reports, the date for completion
of the field draft of the proposed feasibility report is now September
1968.

On the Grand Mesa Project, plan formulation studies are
essentially complete and the geological investigations, collection
of agricultural economic data, and the preparation of design data
are in progress. A rough draft of the water supply portion of the
Hydrology Appendix is nearly completed and other hydrologic studies
are in progress. The completion of the proposed feasibility report
is still scheduled for the end of FY 1970.

The detailed land classification and drainage studies for
the Basalt Project have essentially been co~plete. Compilation of
the land class and drainage data and studies a~e now being completed
in the office. Field review of the lands and drainage by the Re-
gional Office of the Bureau of Reclamation was completed in June 1968.
Results of the geological investigation for the enlargement of the
existing Missouri Heights Reservoir were sent to the Chief Engineer's
Office for their review and evaluation. Ot~cr studies for the project
are proceeding satisfactorily and the report is scheduled for comple~
tion near the end of FY 1972.

-2-

^
