Only three stations used tn the regression had drain-
age areas of less than 150 sq mi, and the smallest area was 110 sq mi. The
data for the high-flow partial-record stations were not used in the anal~-
sis because of the short length of record.

Principal streams with natural flow

The accuracy goal for principal streams Is the accuracy equivalent to
that of a 25-year record. Although the regression equations can be applied
to these basins, they do not provide the desired accuracy for any of the
statistical characteristics of flow. The accuracy goal can be met by
operating gaging stations at selected points. The proposed plan is shown

31
