~-\\

Bureau of Reclamation, and the Western Area Power
Administration), stated that 1993 flows damaged 521 acres of
pasture, 105 acres of cropland, pumps, and 2 mobile home
properties in the Jensen, Utah, area of the Green River.
Estimated costs for resolving the problems and preventing
future damage (e.g., by acquiring properties and moving the
mobile homes) ranged from approximately $320K to $600K.

2) Valentine Bottom (RM 27) to Green River, Utah (RM 120).

There are numerous floodplain washes, bottomlands, and side
canyon tributaries within this segment of river, which is
almost entirely federally-owned (BLM and NPS) and undeveloped.
There are few depression-type habitats in this area, however,
and habitat restoration may consist primarily of managing flows
to flood tributary mouths and other slackwater habitats where
numerous razorback larvae have been captured.

b. Colorado River

1) DeBeque to Rifle

This area is privately-owned; less-developed than the Fruita to
Palisade segment; and consists primarily of terrace-type
habitats where restoration would involve removal of dikes,
levees, rip-rap, etc., and management of flows.

2) Fruita to Palisade

This segment is privately-owned; highly developed; and consists
of both depression-type and terrace-type habitats. Some of the
depressions could be restored for razorback sucker larvae and
adults; restoration of the terrace-type habitats would involve
removal of dikes, levees, rip-rap, etc., and management of
flows.

c. Gunnison River

Escalante SWA to Hartland Diversion

Properties along this segment are owned by the State and local
governments and private landowners, and include both
depression-type and terrace-type habitats. Some of the
depressions could be restored for razorback sucker larvae and
adults; restoration of the terrace-type habitats would involve
removal of dikes, levees, rip-rap, etc., and management of
flows.

2
