.

.

After study, the Public Service company of Colorado

agreed to the proposed pooling arrangement. It was then tentative-

ly agreed that the Public Service company of Colorado would construct

a 230 kv. circuit from Denver to Beaver Creek, and a 230 kv. circuit

from Denver to Pueblo as its share of the pooled transmission

facilities. C.R.S.P. would then eliminate the proposed 230 kv.

cirouit from cheyenne to Beaver Creek.

The power flow studies indicate that during the early

years of operation of C.R.S.P. transmission system, the existing

transmission facilities between Gunnison and Pueblo may be adequate

to transmit the small amounts of power between these points. The

Bureau of Reclamation intends to defer construction of the planned

230 kv. circuit from Curecanti to Midway as long as possible, in

order to save interest charges on this component of the transmission

system. A short section of this line from Curecanti to Gunnison

will be built initially, and this, together with the existing Gunnison-

Salida 115 kv. line, and the Company's Salida-pueblo 115 kv. line,

will be utilized during the early years to transmit power from
Curecanti to Pueblo.

The power flow studies of this proposed pooled operation,

interconnected and integrated transmission system in Colorado, indi-

cate that it will be adequate for the loads of 1973 as now projected.

The pooled operation appears to be equitable to both the Public

Service Company and the C.R.S.P. The elimination of wheeling charges

will simplify the bookkeeping of both agencies. Duplication of

15
