He rocused on actual regional <br />problems and EPA's responsibilities in case of an oil spill <br />or hazardous substances discharged into wa~er or the United <br />States. He also presented a short slide presentation <br />showing scenes 01' responses to the Ashland Oil Spill on the <br />Honoghela River in January 1988. <br /> <br />State of Oklahoma <br /> <br />Hr. Benham-HOlway Power Group. ~'...esented <br />a slide presenta~ion on the Cherokee Nation's goal to <br />provide jobs for the tribe and develop businesses for the <br />tribe to beco.e more self sufficient. Hr. Aronson discussed <br />activities related to the develop..ent of' a proposed power <br />plant at W. A. Hayo Lock and Dam. Mr. flill Smith also gave <br />a slide presentation on the development of the hydropower <br />potential on the Arkansas River Navigation System. Using <br />the construction at Lock and Dam 13 as an example, he <br />discussed the costs and problems that can arise in the <br />construction of hydropower plants in the system. <br /> <br />Harvey Bollinger, Executive Director, RedArk Development <br />Authority, gave a slide presentation on the RedArk <br />Development Authority, a multiple county public trust that <br />has responsibility for conducting a comprehensive water <br />study for 21 eastern Oklahoma counties by March 1989. <br />Feasibility studies concerning flood control. hydropower, <br />water supply. and recreation will be conducted on the Poteau <br />River and the Deep Fork portions. The study involves the <br />Soil Conservation Service. Corps of Engineers, and the <br />flureau of Reclamation. <br /> <br />-8- <br />
