liSG

2.0 feet above the l:ottam of the Forest Service 'boat ranp. Under reasonable .
maximum inflow oonditions. the reservoir would theoretically be drawn
d::lwn to this elevation. Ibwever, under reasonable minimum and nest
probable runoff conditions the reservoir would be drawn down to about
elevation 7723 and 7714, respectively. In each case the reservoir would
fill by the first of July to provide optimum recreational benefits
during the SUll1l'er nenths.

After July 1, operating plans call for drawing the reservoir down to a
point 2.0 feet below the spillway crest and oolding it at this stage
until August 1. Water users along the Colorado River have re~sted
that the outflow from Roodi Reservoir be maintained at 150 ft Is during
the rronth of August. The Colorado Division of3Wildlife has requested
that the outflow be Il'aintained at about 100 ft Is during September to
optimize the downstream fishery. These flows will be maintained under
nont\3.l oonditions. however, if another below nont\3.l year occurs. the
outflow during these rronths may be adjusted to conserve water.

Several contracts for purchase of water from Ruedi Reservoir are pending.
If water is sold to entities downstream, the outflow from the reservoir
will be adjusted to the situation existing at the tiJre of delivery and
will be included in the overall operation.

Table 4 and Exhibit 8 show the anticipated operation of Ruedi Reservoir
during water year 1978.

Turquoise Lake

.

Reservoir Inflow

Inflow to Turquoise Lake for water year 1978 will be from three sources:
Busk-Ivanhoe iIrtports, Fryingpan-Arkansas Project iIrtports, and native
flow of Lake Fork Creek. Estimates of inflow from Busk-Ivanhoe and
native Lake Fork Creek were made using historical records and probability
analysis. iblrestake Tunnel has been shut off for repairs and no iIrtports
from iblrestake Lake are anticipated in water year 1978.

The 10-, 50-, and 90-percent chance values ~re obtained from the
probability curves shown on Exhibits 1 and ~ and are considered to
represent the reasonable minimum, nest probable, and reasonable maximum
inflows, respectively. lobnthly distribution of these values was made in
acaordanoe with historical records. Fryingpan-Arkansas Project iIrtports
for the three conditions are derived from Exhibit 2 and are discussed in
rcore detail under "Western Slope COllection System."

.

10
