<br />The principal bridges completed in the past year include the Livingston,
<br />Reeds Point, and Billings bridges over the Yellowstone River and the
<br />Fort Benton bridge over the Hissouri River, all in Hontana; also a
<br />bridge over the Osage River on U.S. High.ray 50, east of Jefferson City,
<br />Missouri.

<br />Highlray construction affecting water resources inc ludes : (1) Missouri
<br />Highway No. 13 across the upper reaches of the Kaysinger Bluff Reservoir
<br />where the Corps of Engineers obtained advance appropriations for
<br />construction of road adjustments needed to accommodate the reservoir.
<br />(2) Interstate Highway No. 80 along the Platte River in Nebraska,
<br />Colorado, and wyoming.

<br />Studies by the Corps of Engineers regarding the navigation clearances
<br />to be provided in the }ti$souri River bridges continue and should be
<br />completed this year. If the decision of the Chief of Engineers should
<br />permit a substantial reduction in these clearances, the navigation
<br />:iJ;1crement to the cost of highway bridges over the Missouri River 1,ill
<br />be considerably reduced.

<br />Geodetic operations in the Hissouri River Basin were confined to'
<br />establishing horizontal and vertical controls for the Air Force at
<br />various Air Force Bases in Montana, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, and
<br />South Dakota. Work at Ellsworth AFB in South Dalcota, interrupted at
<br />the end of the year, will be resumed and a neloj' project will be started
<br />at an Air Force Base in North Dalcota.

<br />The work resulted in the establishment of 681 new triangulation
<br />stations in the Basin, and 2000 miles of leveling. A large portion
