This has led us to feel very uneasy

2 about the absence of detailed information on geology in this

3 document. We would like to request the following: That the

4 Bureau of Reclamation consult with the U. S. Geological 3urvey

5 personnel who are mapping the geology in and near the reservoir

6 and dam site. I would note here that an open file report number

7 76-794 has just been filed on this area. Our second request is

8 that an individual with experience in landslides be directed to

9 do a detailed study of the potential land movement in the slide

areas of the reservoir and possible slumping of formations on

the west side of the reservoir when they become saturated.

Thirdly. that consideration be given to the need for lining the

canals to prevent slippage and sliding. Fourthly, that detailed

information be provided on the bedrock at the dam site, the

amount of seepage at the base of the dam and through the abut-

16 ments on either side. That general seepage lost in the porous

17 formations which underlie both reservoir areas be calculated.

18 And finally. that an alternate dam site in more stable geology

~
';

19 be investigated on the ~iddle fork of the Little Snake River.

f

20 In related geologic issues. we would like to see'a com-

,~

21 plate water quality analysis on Savery Creek. Our concern here

h

22 is that it may carry some elements that should be monitored if

23

the project is constructed. We disagree with the statement on

24

page B-38 that the Little Snake River and tributaries do not

25

pass through mineralized concentrations.

;~
