I am Northern Plains representative for the sierra club. <br /> <br />4 I am testifying today on behalf of our Wyoming chapter. <br /> <br />5 As background, the Club has followed this Bureau of <br /> <br />6 Reclamation project for a number of years. We commented on the <br /> <br />7 first impact statement released in 1972, we have visited with <br /> <br />8 area residents, corresponded with state and Federal Game and <br /> <br />9 Fish agencies and talked with various geologists. Our research <br /> <br />10 has been almost exclusively directed toward the Wyoming side of <br /> <br />11 the proposal with our Colorado groups addressing the remainder <br /> <br />.-- <br /> <br />12 of the project. The testimony I give today generally follows I <br />Ie,' <br /> <br />13 this same division. <br /> <br />14 The Wyoming chapter of the Sierra Club supports agri- <br /> <br />15 culture in the Little Snake River valley. and we would like to <br /> <br />16 see it continue and prosper. In concept. it appears the savery- <br /> <br />17 Pot Hook project is directed toward these goals and we support <br /> <br />18 that objective. However, we cannot give complete endorsement of <br /> <br />19 the project as it is now described in the Draft Impact Statement. <br /> <br />20 Following are some areas of concern we would like to see resolved <br /> <br />21 prior to the final Environmental Impact Statement. <br /> <br />22 A primary deficiency in the draft statement is the lack <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />23 of information on the geology of the Sandstone Dam site and <br /> <br />24 reservoir area. While we do not wish to put ourselves forward <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />25 as experts on the subject, we have talked with several individual <br />
