Objectives of the Study <br />To assess, at a broad regional level of detail. <br /> <br />(1) The water requirements of coal gasification and <br />oil shale technologies (EETs) and of the <br />associated growth. <br />(2) The availability of water for potential <br />development of these EETs and the associated <br />growth. <br />(3) The effects which these potential EET developments <br />would have on the hydrology and water quality of <br />the Upper Basin. <br />(4) The estimated cost of providing water supplies of <br />these developments. <br />(5) The estimated monetary costs of managing the <br />wastewaters generated by these developments. <br />(6) The social, economic and environmental impacts <br />resulting from these developments including <br />impacts resulting from reductions in the amount of <br />water available for other water uses. <br />
