SYNOPSIS

Operation, maintenance, and replacement costs with project develop-
ment are expected to average $30,450 annually at 1939-1944 prices,
approximately $25,550 more than present costs. Annual per acre costs
would be about $.75, an increase of about $.63 over present per acre
costs. By proper care in project operation and maintenance and with
occasional replacements, the project should realize a useful life of
100 years or more.

Comparison of Benefits and Costs

Benefits from the IiYman project attributable to Federal eJ(pendi-
tures would compare with the attendant Federal costs in a ratio of 1.02
to 1. FOr th~ comparison both benefits and costs were converted to
average annual equivalent values, over a 100-year period beginning with
the first year of full project operation.

The net value of benefits from Federal expenditures is estimated
at $307,000 annually on the basis of 1939-1944 prices. This includes
the direct benefit value to farmers that would result from inoreased
crop and livestock production and the indirect benefit value that would
result from processing of the additional agricultural products and from
increased local sales of goods and services. In estimating benefits an
allowanoe also was made for a $3,900 loss in fish and wildlife values
