WATER QUALITY MANAGEMENT GOALS <br /> <br />The Water Qual ity Control Division has establ ished four principal goals to- <br /> <br />ward which all current and future water quality management programs will be di- <br /> <br />rected. <br /> <br />GOAL l: To ma i nta in, protect, and improve the qua I i ty of a 11 waters of <br /> <br />Colorado to support the highest attainable beneficial uses. <br /> <br />Objective 1: To gain an understanding of the current water qual ity. <br /> <br />Activities: <br /> <br />1. Monitoring and surveillance. <br /> <br />2. Conducting special water studies. <br /> <br />3. Investigating non-point pollution sources. <br /> <br />4. Evaluating ground water qual ity. <br /> <br />5. Effectively manage wastewater treatment programs at State <br /> <br />and local levels. <br /> <br />Objective 2: Use Information from the monitoring program in the planning <br /> <br />process to provide an orderly strategy for reaching this goal. <br /> <br />Activit ies: <br /> <br />1. Reviewing 201 plans, subdivision plans, environmental impact <br /> <br />statements, and applications for Federal funds under A-95 <br /> <br />procedures. <br /> <br />2.
