Geological Survey in the conduct of areal or topical <br />water-resource oriented investigations and water-data collection <br />networks in the South Platte River Basin in FY 1974. These <br />included the following: <br /> <br />a. Hvdro1oqy of the south Platte River Valley <br />Below Henderson, Colorado - Major work elements in FY 1974 included <br />continued monitoring of water levels and completion of a summary <br />report. <br /> <br />b. Water Manaqement Study of the Hiqh Plains of <br />Colorado - Major work elements in FY 1974 included a continuation <br />of water level monitoring and analysis of data. <br /> <br />c. Hydroloqy and Related Recreational Aspects of <br />Streams in Colorado - Fiscal Year 1974 activities included field <br />work and preparation of a report for a 40-mi1e reach of the Cache <br />La poudre River. <br /> <br />d. Inventory. Investiqation, and Research of <br />Colorado Lakes - This is a statewide study to provide basic infor- <br />mation needed to appraise and manage the lakes of Colorado. The <br />study was initiated in FY 1974 and will be continued until all <br />lakes are inventoried. <br /> <br />2. Construction Activities <br /> <br />Construction on Chatfield Dam. a Corps of Engineers <br />flood control structure on the south Platte River upstream from <br />Denver. was continued during FY 1974. Closure of the dam was <br />accomplished in August 1974. with final construction on all <br />facilities scheduled early in FY 1978. <br /> <br />Land acquisition for Bear Creek <br />structure on Bear Creek, was continued. <br />feature is scheduled for 1980. <br /> <br />Lake. a flood control <br />Construction on this <br /> <br />The Water Supply and Storage Company of Fort Collins is <br />continuing construction of Long Draw Dam and Reservoir with funds <br />advanced through the Small Projects Loan Program. <br />
