An <br /> <br />alternative for Bection 6 establishes the necessaty procedures for floodway ;ifgW <br /> <br />determinations. <br /> <br />IT IS ESSENTIAL THA T THE OR DINANCE BE TAILORED TO <br /> <br />LOCAL NEEDS AND CONDITIONS, DEPENDING UPON FLOOD DATA, <br /> <br />COMMUNITY OBJECTIVES, SPECIFIC ENABLING ACT PROVISIONS AND <br /> <br />CASE LA W INTERPRETA TION. While the 'ord inance is de signed for uSe <br /> <br />with most state subdivision controls enabling acts, each state act and caSe <br /> <br />law interpretations must be checked. <br /> <br />B. Necessary Data <br /> <br />For operation of this ordinance, technical data is necessary <br /> <br />either before adoption or during administration. See Chapter 4, Part In, <br /> <br />Volume One for a general discussion of this problem. . The information <br /> <br />needed prior to adoption of the ordinance will differ according to the <br /> <br />nature of the local flood problems but mllst at a minimllm inclllde a <br /> <br />definition of the areas subject to inundation. At riverine locations, floodways <br /> <br />must be defined either initially or during administration. At coastal <br /> <br />locations, information may also be needed to define areas.,of wave action, <br /> <br />and areas of eros ion damage. <br /> <br />Expertise will often be necessary during administrative phases <br /> <br />to evaluate the adeqllacy of acceSs to subdivision sites. proposed filling to <br /> <br />prepar.e flood-free building sites, plans for flood protective works, and <br /> <br />plans for flood-proofing of individual USeS. This expertise may be supplied <br /> <br />by a community engineering department, state or federal agency, or <br /> <br />consulting engineer. <br />
