Accomplishment of FY 97 Tasks and Deliverables, Discussion of Initial Findings and
Shortcomings: (FLO Project #10600.9 Tasks)

Task 1 - Initial Coordination and Site Screening - FLO was not involved with the initial site
screening with the Fish and Wildlife Service in Denver to discuss potential sites, screen
sites, prioritize the potential importance of the various sites, to schedule the work and plan
strategies for the field data collection.

Task 2 - Initial Site Visit and Evaluation, Green River Sites - Site reconaissance was
performed on a trip by trip basis by FLO. No on-site coordination with Fish and Wildlife
Service occurred prior to data collection activities.

Task 3 - Initial Site Visit and Evaluation, Colorado and Gunnison River Sites - Site
reconaissance was performed on a trip by trip basis by FLO. No on-site coordination with
Fish and Wildlife Service occurred prior to data collection activities.

Task 4 - Setting Monuments and Control, Green River Sites - Monuments for cross section
end points and stage measurements were set. Monuments for the control points to
conduct the topographic surveys were also set at each site and a reconaissance to find
horizontal and vertical control was also made. Typically, USGS or local vertical control was
found while horizontal control was not available in the area.

Task 5 - Setting Monuments and Control, Colorado and Gunnison River Sites - Monuments
for cross section end points and stage measurements were set. Monuments for the control
points to conduct the topographic surveys were also set at each site and a reconaissance
to find horizontal and vertical control was also made. Typically, USGS or local vertical
control was found while horizontal control was not available in the area.

Task 6 - Stage Measurements for the Green River: A series of stage measurements were
taken during runoff period for the continued stage discharge relationship development at
96 sites and new stage discharge relationship development at the 1997 sites. Three of the
1997 Green River sites were done after runoff season, so a hydraulic model was
developed instead of a site specific stage discharge relationship.

Task 7 - Stage Measurements for the Colorado and Gunnison Rivers - A series of stage
measurements were taken at Craig's property along the Gunnison River near Whitewater,
CO. The remainder of the Colorado River sites were done after runoff season, and the
Gunnison River Dad's Flat was too remote to economically take several stage
measurements.

Tasks 8 & 9 - Survey of Cross Sections, Green, Colorado, and Gunnison Rivers - Cross
sections were established at each site. Approximately 11 new permanent cross sections
were established on the Green River. In addition, six left end points were set at the
Rasmussen site and surveys were performed, but no right endpoints were set as the owner
on the opposite side of the river was not willing to participate. Eleven permanent cross

2
