VI. Accomplishment of FY 96 Tasks and Deliverables of Initial
Findings and Shortcomings:

Accomplishments Utah State University: Field work was
conducted 3-4 May 1996 and on 5-6 June 1996. Four new study
sites were established at locations of former U.S.
Geological Survey gaging stations. These sites are: (1)
White River near Colorado State Line, Utah, (2) White River
above Hells Hole Canyon near Watson, Utah, (3) White River
below Asphalt Wash near Watson, Utah, and (4) White River at
mouth near Ouray, Utah. Longitudinal profiles of water
surface elevations at a discharge of about 2,300 cfs and at
the 1996 peak discharge of about 3,400 cfs were surveyed at
each of the four new study sites and at the White River near
Watson, Utah study site established in 1995. The large-scale
geomorphic organization of the White River from Rangely,
Colorado to Ouray, Utah is being described in office-based
studies. These sites are as follows:

27-29 May 1995 established 11 channel cross-sections,
longitudinal survey of thalweg, water surface, and
alluvial surfaces

6 June 1996 water surface and 1996 high-water profile

gage 09306500 in operation from 10/27/59 to present (at
present location) and from 4/15/04 to 10/26/59
intermittently at different locations (see sta. Desc.)
