<br />PART C~2 <br /> <br />The Council considered the following work projects: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1. An evaluation handbook to provide a basic conceptual <br />approach for evaluating wetlands and floodplains for <br />their natural values. This was dropped at the <br />November 13 meeting. <br /> <br />2. Prepare a third volume of Regulation of Flood <br />Hazard Areas, stressing simultaneous measures on <br />mitigate hazards and to provide environmental manage- <br />ment and nonstructural measures. The Council approved <br />this. proj ec t. <br /> <br />3. Prepare a handbook to provide site specific wetland <br />and floodplain evaluation procedures for use by Federal, <br />State and local program administrators. The procedures <br />will be suitable for inclusion in the Manual of Pro- <br />cedures for implementing the Council's Principles and <br />Standards. This was dropped by the Council's <br />November 13 meeting. <br /> <br />4. Prepare a handbook to provide evaluation procedures to <br />reflect specific regional differences in wetlands and <br />floodplains and associated values. This was dropped <br />at the November 13 meeting. <br /> <br />5. Prepare a handbook to identify issues, define procedures <br />and provide guidance to State and local governments for <br />acquisition of floodplain and wetland areas. This was <br />approved .at the November 13 meeting. <br /> <br />Other measures were added at the meeting. <br /> <br />1. An analysis of research on wetlands and floodplains. <br /> <br />2. An analysis of existing wetlands evaluation procedures. <br /> <br />3. The Floodplain Management Task Force will recommend <br />other work projects necessary to achieve the objectives <br />of the Council's efforts in floodplain/wetland manage- <br />ment. <br /> <br />Wetland/Floodplain Seminars/Workshops Results <br /> <br />The .summary of "Emerging Issues .in Wetland/Floodplain Management" <br />is available in limited supply from the Council. The entire report <br />is being made available through the National Technical Information <br /> <br />C-16 <br />
