<br />steering Committee to analyze the saline watersheds in the Colorado <br /> <br />River drainage portion of the state of Utah. <br /> <br />The Phase I <br /> <br />inventory, cursory analyses of watersheds, have been completed and <br /> <br />CJ <br />C'J <br />-.1 <br />W <br /> <br />Phase II, reconnaissance planning, investigation of 8 of the most <br /> <br />promising watersheds will be completed very shortly. <br /> <br />Phase III <br /> <br />comprehensive <br /> <br />planning, <br /> <br />Phase <br /> <br />IV <br /> <br />implementation, <br /> <br />Phase V <br /> <br />maintenance, and Phase VI monitoring, are the next acti vi ties. The <br /> <br />Council offers the fOllowing recommendations: <br /> <br />1. Initiate activities on Phases III and IV in two <br /> <br />watersheds in Utah. <br /> <br />2. Organize an effort, similar to that in Utah, in Colorado <br /> <br />for Phase I & II activities, with members of the Utah <br /> <br />study team providing training assistance to other State <br />study teams. <br /> <br />Fish and Wildlife Service <br /> <br />The Council supports the continued coordination between the <br /> <br />Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), Reclamation, USDA and EPA in <br /> <br />addressing the issue of fish and wildlife habitat values foregone. <br /> <br />The Council expresses its appreciation for the coordination by the <br /> <br />FWS & SCS in addressing the Council's concerns. <br /> <br />U.S. Geological Survey <br /> <br />The Council believes that it is basically a federal obligation <br />to provide the hydrologic data and interpretive studies required <br /> <br />to carry out the objectives of the salinity control program. The <br /> <br />U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) role is to provide information and <br /> <br />8 <br />
