<br />j <br /> <br />r' ~ ~ " <br />l...J.. ."-> <br /> <br />OPE RAT 10 NAN 0 ^I A I N TEN A NeE <br /> <br />,.3 <br /> <br />Regulators to control camp voltage under the varying conditions <br />resulting from the metallurgic.al operations of Basic Magnesium, <br />Incorporated, were installed in the station power racks at Gene, <br />Iron Mountain, Eagle Mountain, and Hayfield, at the expense of <br />Defense Plant Corporation. <br /> <br />l-'Ilmp;.ng plant protection <br /> <br />Detachments of the California State Guard were stationed at <br />Inh,ke, Gene, Eagle Mountain, and Hayfield pumping plants and <br />at Copper Basin Dam continuously from the beginning of the fiscal <br />year until May 26, 1943, when the,r were withdrawn by order of <br />the Adjutant General of the State of California. From July 1, <br />1942 until October 31, 1942, detachments of United States Army <br />t.roops in t.raining were quartered in and around the Iron Moun- <br />tain plant, making it unnecessary to maintain special guards at. <br />this location, After removal of the United St.ates Army troops <br />from t.he vicinity of Iron Monnt.ain plant five civilian guards were <br />kept on dut.y there for the remainder of the year. <br />After withdrawal of the California State Guard, civilian guards, <br />five at each plant, were stationed at Intake, Gene, Eagle Mountain, <br />and Harfield plants_ The Copper Basin reservoir area Was pa- <br />trolled regularly by men from the transmission line patrol crew, <br /> <br />r. <br /> <br />Boulder power <br /> <br />The District receives its principal power supply under a con- <br />tract with the United States which entitles the District until May <br />31, 1987 to take 35,2517 per cent of the firm energy developed at <br />Boulder Dam, which, by contract definition, amounted to <br />1.526,398,610 kwhI' in the year of operation ending May 31, 1938, <br />and a slightly diminishing amount each year thereafter, <br />Except for a development period of 36 months following July 1, <br />1938, when energy was first ready for delivery to the District, the <br />entire allotment of firm energy must be paid for whether used or <br />not. The reduced amounts required to be paid for during this <br />development period were 55 per cent of the allotment for the first <br />12 months, 70 per cent for the second 12 months, and 85 per cent <br />for the third 12 months, Table 3 shows in kilowatthours the <br />amount of the District's obligation and use up to June 1, 1943, the <br />beginning of the new operating year, Amounts of energy resold <br />for the credit of the District and amounts remaining unused and <br />not resold also are indicated. <br /> <br />1" <br /> <br />J <br /> <br />I <br />
