<br />02:~a ' <br />MOFFAT WATER TUNNEL (Altitude 9,244 feet, apex ,of tunnel) <br /> <br />Location: - Parallel to and 75 feet south of the Moffat Railroad tunnel. <br /> <br />Built: - In connection with the Railroad tunnel in 1927. First used for Denver <br /> <br />water in 1936. Now being improved under contract by lining the east half with <br /> <br />concrete, <br /> <br />Function: - To convey water from Fraser River west slope sources under the <br /> <br />continental divide to the headwaters of South Boulder Creek for transmission <br /> <br />into the Denver Water System. <br /> <br />Capacity: - Developed by stages. Present capacity about 600 cubic feet of water <br /> <br />per second. When improvements now being made are completed, the maximum <br /> <br />carrying capacity will be approximatel y 1300 second feet. The contract cost <br /> <br />of these improvements is $1,469.000.. with completion date set for April 1, 1958. <br /> <br />~: ~ 10'6" horseshoe section. <br />
