J-".......:J . <br /> <br />COLLECTING CANAL SYSTEM - Feeding the MOFFAII' TUNNEL WATER BORE <br /> <br />Location: - West of the West Portal of the Moffat Tunnel in the Winter Park- <br />Fraser area. <br /> <br />Built: - First construction completed in 1936 with many extensions and improvements <br /> <br />since that time, the last one being in 1955. Enlargement now being carried <br /> <br />on with completion date set for April 1, 1958. <br /> <br />Cost: - Last contract to complete on main Vasquez Canal $918,000. <br /> <br />Function: - To collect and convey water from numerous tributaries of the Fraser <br /> <br />River to the West Portal of the Moffat Water Tunnel bore. <br /> <br />Capacity: - Canal carrying capacity being :'increased to 650 cubic feet of water 'per <br />second. Current work includes covering the main canal so that a <br />large part of the entire system can be winter operated. <br /> <br />Type: - Combined open and closed conduit system lying at elevation above 9,244 ft. <br />
