C. 20315 July 10, 1967 ~ Dear General Cassidy: '0) Reference is made to your letter of May II, 1967, requesting comments and recommendations on the "Interim Report and Appendices, Bear Creek Basin, Colorado." The following comments and recommendations are considered pertinent regarding the health related problems which may be affected by the proposed project. I. To minimize publ ic health hazards appropriate steps during design, construction, and maintenance of the project should be taken to avoid conditions which may increase populations of mosquitoes and other arthropods and rodents of public health importance or which may result in undue exposure of humans to such vectors. Such appropriate steps are defined in the Public Health Service Publ i- cation "Prevention and Control of Vector Problems Associated with Water Resources." 2. Proposed recreational areas should be thoroughly reviewed by the Jefferson County Health Department and minimum water and sanitary facil ities should be provided in accordance with Colorado State Department of Public Health requirements. ", " 3. The administrative agency responsible for the project should oper- ate and maintain the project's recreational facil ities in accord- ance with establ ished criteria and public health requirements as described in "Environmental Health Practice in Recreational Areas", USPHS Publ ication No. 1195.
