I,
~

~.

~

c

construction on the Grand Valley Salinity Control Unit, In

both instances. the state and local water users have. at the

Bureau's request. accomplished certain activities and

prerequisites in order to enable these salinity control units

to go forward.

We have met the schedules requested of us by the Bureau for

its benefit. Now. the President's budget reneges on the very
schedules to which we were asked to commit. We ask Congress to

rectify this situation by appropriating $___ million for the

Lower Gunnison Unit and $___ million for the Grand Valley

Unit, We have met our obligations. The United States should

do the same,

Bureau of Reclamation (Staqecoach Reservoir Project)

Colorado strongly supports the Bureau's Small Reclamation

Projects Act program, Several Colorado projects have benefited

from this program in the past and we expect to have more

candidates in the future.

Of immediate interest is the Stagecoach Reservoir Project

on the Yampa River in northwestern Colorado. The State has

appropriated $8,0 million to finance nearly half of the

project's cost,

-7-
