The Council appreciates the cooperation and coordination that <br />the USFWS has brought to the program. <br /> <br />If there are issues the USFWS believes should be brought to the Council, the Council requests a <br />report by April 15,2003. <br /> <br />us. Enviroltmental Prouction Agency (USEPA) <br /> <br />The Council was pleased to hear at the Advisory Council meeting that the USEP A is reviewing how <br />the USEPA is administering the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System(NPDES)permits <br />it has responsibility for within the basin. While the NPDES program is a small component of the <br />plan of implementation, it is still very important. Finding ways to improve coordination and ensure <br />the Forum policies are applied consistently in each of the USEP A's regions is critical. The Council <br />believes that it is important for the USEP A to continue to recognize Region VIII as its coordinating <br />region for salinity control matt~. <br /> <br />The Council notes that the USEPA supponed and encouraged the recent changes to the Forum's <br />policies dealing with point discharges. The Council appreciates the USEP A's prompt attention to <br />this matter. The Council requests that Region VIII continue to repon on the activities ofIndian <br />tribes within the drainage to establish their o\\n water quality standards.
