transportation to Cott~nwood Creek cn the Eastern Slopo via the
Gunnison~Arkansas Tunnol.

From Cottonwood Creek noar Buena Vista the combined imported and
Arkansas River flows would be conveyed through an enlarged canal to '
tho Salida Powerplant and thence via canal and tunnel to tho Wellsviile
Powerplnnt. The entire canal system from Cottonwoed Creek to ~ellsvill
included in the Maximum Gravity Diversion, would be enlarged te carry
the additional water imported from the Gunnison B~sin.

Be~inning at elevntion 6,850 foet, the 1Vellsville-Texas Creek'
Conal,I-1/2 miles in length, would cnrry wntor from the tailrace ef
the Wellsvillo Powerplant to the west portr.l of a serios of tunnols;
at el~vntion 6,848 feet, connocting the canal and tho Toxas Creek Power
plant. A diversion, dam on the'Arkanslls River would Mvort tribut~ry
drainage of the Arkansas River bolow ~rowns G~nyon into the upoer end
of tho canal. Fr0m the tailrace of tho Texas Creek Pewerplant !l.short
canal, nt ele'""tion 6,200 feet, W0Ul<', earry wnter to n siphon across'
the Arkansas River to the south side, thence the canal w~uld continue
approximo.toly I mile to tho west portal of a series of three tunnels
with n combined length of approximatoly 28 miles. Tho tunnels would
terminate at Mineral Crook Ilb~ut 10 miles southwest of Florence. ' At
the siphon, a low diversi~n ~an would divort all tributary droinage of
the Arkansas Rivor bolow the Wollsville intorception into the Texas
Creek-Minora I Crook Canal.

At ele~tion 6,100 foet, the Boulah Cnnnl would carry the writer a
distance of nbout 42.5 niles from the east pertnl of the Texas Creek-
Minoral Creek Tunnel t~ ~he Graneros Reservoir, 22 miles south of Puebl

k diversion dam, lecatod on Graneros Creek abeut 1-1/2 milos below
the potontial Graneros Dam, wculd raiso the wntor to ole'lntion 5,810
feet for transportation to the Capers Pewerplant and Cedarwond Reservoi:
through 0. serios of short tunnels ~nd n cannl. Water would be reloased
through the Cc.pers Powcrplant' intc tho potential ,Ccdarwnod Roservoir.
Releasos from this roscrvair would bo made through Ced~rwGod Powerplant
into the Ben Butler Reservoir which would serve as the tailrace for the
poworplant. The Bon Butler Reservoir would be ioeated in the oanynn
of the Huerfano Rivor.
