<br />0020:S <br /> <br />Operating Plan 1966 (Cont<l.) <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Webster Dam and Reservoir <br /> <br />Webster conservation pool was full at the start of 1966; therefore, <br />the carryover storage and inflow will be adequate to meet the require- <br />ments of the 6,800 acres expected to be irrigated under the Osborne <br />Canal system and to meet the municipal water demands of Beloit, Kansas. <br /> <br />Cedar Bluff Dam and Reservoir <br /> <br />Cedar Bluff conservation pool was full at the start of 1966; there- <br />fore, the carryover storage and available inflow will be adequate to <br />meet the irrigation requirements of 5,250 acres expected to be <br />irrigated in the Cedar Bluff Irrigation District, supplement the <br />municipal water supply of Russell, Kansas, and furnish a water aupply <br />for the Cedar Bluff Fish Cultural Station, <br /> <br />IRRIGATION OPERATIONS <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />It is estimated that 121,860 acres under the Kanaas River Projects <br />will be irrigated in 1966. Of this, 75,310 acrea are in Nebraska <br />and 46,550 acres in Kansas. The acres expected to be irrigated in <br />1966 are shown by canals in Tsble 6. The probable cansl diversions <br />for 1966 under the "normal," "dry" and "wetll years are shown graph- <br />ically together with the acresge expected to be irrigated in Exhibits <br />12 through 20. The expected operationa are discussed in the following <br />paragraphs for each irrigation district. <br /> <br />Frenchman Valley and H & RW Irrigation Districts <br /> <br />The irrigated lands in these two districts are served by Enders Reservoir <br />through the Culbertson Canal and the Culbertson Extension Canal systems <br />which are operated under joint management. For 1966, 8,000 acres in <br />the Frenchman Valley Irrigation District and 10,500 acres in the H & RW <br />Irrigation District are expected to be irrigated. <br /> <br />In addition to meeting the irrigation requirements of the Frenchman Valley <br />and the H & RW Irrigation Districts, approximately 150 acre-feet will <br />be needed for periodic sediment sluicing operations at the Culbertson <br />Diversion Dam. A bank protection program for Frenchman Creek to control <br />the erosion of the channel will be continued in 1966, <br /> <br />Frenchman-Cambridge Irrigation District <br /> <br />The Frenchman-Cambridge Irrigation District will operate and maintain <br />the Red Willow, Bsrtley, Cambridge and Meeker-Driftwood systems, It <br />is estimated that 36,810 scres will be irrigsted by these four systems <br />in 1966 utilizing storage from Swanson, Hugh Butler snd Hsrry Strunk <br />Lakes. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />15 <br />
