<br />0020~': <br /> <br />1965 Operations (ContdJ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />in Mid-NoveMber, they had to be correlated with the releases from <br />Kirwin Reservoir, so as not to damage the haul road river crossing <br />at Glen Elder Dam as deacribed in the operstion of Kirwin Dam and <br />Reservoir on Page 9, <br /> <br />The 6,243 acres irrigated under the Osborne Canal were provided a full <br />water supply. No releases were made for the City of Beloit, Kansas, <br />under the interim contract, At the close of the irrigation season, <br />the reservoir elevation was 1884.85 (51,941 acre-feet) or 4.75 feet <br />(15,159 acre-feet) below the top of conservation capacity. Flood <br />damages in the amount of $325,000 were prevented by Webster Dam in <br />1965. The accumulated total of flood damages prevented since 1956 <br />is $1,802,000. <br /> <br />Cedar Bluff Dam and Reservoir <br /> <br />The reservoir inflow for 1965 was 193t of the most probable, The <br />reservoir reached a depth of 1,0 feet (6,940 acre-feet) in the <br />flood control pool on November 16. Releases were reduced to zero <br />in the early part of November at the request of the Kansas State <br />Department of Health, who conducted a study of water quality and <br />return flow. below Cedar Bluff Dam. Upon completion of the study, <br />releases were resumed to evacuate the flood pool. <br /> <br />.1 <br /> <br />The 4,910 acres irrigated under the Cedar Bluff Canal were provided <br />a full water supply, The Cedar Bluff National Fish Hatchery, located <br />below Cedar Bluff Dam and operated by the United Ststes Buresu of <br />Sport Fisheries and Wildlife, was delivered 2,101 scre-feet of which <br />852 scre-feet ws. returned to the Smoky Hill River. No rele.ses <br />were made to the City of Russell, Kansas, under the interim contract. <br />Minimum conservation storsge of Cedar Bluff Reservoir was reached <br />on September 18 at elevation 2140.80 (163,940 acre-feet), ),2 feet <br />(21,150 acre-feet) below the top of the conservstion pool, <br /> <br />During 1965, $38,000 in flood damages were prevented by Cedsr Bluff <br />Dam. The accumulated damages prevented to date are $8,344,000. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />10 <br />
