<br />000570 <br /> <br />NEBRASKA <br />To develop sound land-use policies and programs to minimize damages, and <br />to reduce flood damage by the most efficient combination of structural and <br />nonstructural programs. <br /> <br />NORTH DAKOTA <br />The State's general objective is to limit flooding in urban areas in any <br />one year to one percent; and in agricultural areas, protection against a <br />25-year flood. <br />The state's overall strategy for flood damage abatement includes <br /> <br />components of flood insurance, flood plain management, and <br /> <br />structuraljnonstructural features. <br /> <br />SOUTH DAKOTA <br />The goal is to reduce flood risks to.the people of South Dakota. <br />Water resource management plays a key role in the abatement of flood <br />hazards. Basic hydrographic data collection which is needed for the definition <br />of flood hazard areas should be intensified and made available as soon as <br /> <br />possible. <br /> <br />WYOMING <br />Due cognizance is to be given to identification of various degrees of <br />flood hazard damage potential to the end that loss of life and property from <br />this cause will be minimized. In this respect, full utilization shall be made <br />of applicable surveys defining specific flood levels and where lacking, the <br />State shall act to acquire such surveys. Full analysis of pertinent date to <br />define extent of riSk and economic loss potential shall be developed for use in <br />land-use administration. <br /> <br />G-ll <br />
